NEWSFLASH: Four arrested for separate crimes in Pretoria East and North

Four people were arrested on Thursday during separate crime combating initiatives around Pretoria.

On Thursday morning, a man was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Tshwane metro police officers responded to a lookout call about a hijacked Mercedes-Benz AMG C200.

The vehicle was spotted near fountains circle around 01:00.

Spokesperson Issac Mahamba said the officers pulled the car over and arrested the 25-year-old male driver.

Meanwhile, metro police received a tip-off about illegal firearms kept in two Spaza shops owned by Somalian nationals in Soshanguve block TT.

“Officers searched the premises and recovered an illegal firearm in each shop,” said Mahamba.

“One male was arrested for possession of an illegal firearm.”

Another man was arrested for illegal possession of a stolen firearm after metro police searched another Spaza shop in Soshanguve block TT.

Mahamba said it was later discovered that the firearm was stolen from an SAPS official.

In Garsfontein, a 28-year old man was arrested for dealing and possession of drugs called “white scank” and mushrooms valued at R9 000.

All those arrested were expected to appear in court soon.
