Train hits vehicle in Pretoria North

A man was seriously injured when his bakkie landed before a train in Pretoria North on Thursday.

Best Care ambulance services spokesperson Xander Loubser said from the scene the driver of the bakkie was trapped inside the vehicle in Jan van Riebeeck Street.

“The jaws of life will be used to free the seriously injured man.”

The accident happened around 12:30

Loubser said: “I’m not sure whether the driver of the bakkie disobeyed the stop sign at the railway crossing.”

The man would be taken to the nearest hospital.

No one else was injured.
