Shock as another cop is killed in north

Another police officer has been gunned down in the north of Pretoria.

Constable Eddy Solly Bokaba (27) of the Tshwane metro police was killed on Monday in Hammanskraal days after Sergeant Peter Modiegi Mogotlane was killed at the Winterveld Mohlambe stand in Mabopane.

A police statement indicated that Bokaba was at a friend’s house when he was shot and killed.

Bokaba was approached by a VW Polo as he stopped at the house.

“Bokana got out of his vehicle to ask what the VW occupants wanted then one of them got out and, without a word, pulled out a firearm and shot him,” read the statement.

Bokaba died on the scene.

Police said the motive for the murder was still unknown and investigations continued.

“The metro police is still in shock by the brutal murder of the officer. He was dedicated to his work. He joined the force in 2012 and was part of the cable theft team,” read the statement.

“The department is saddened by this loss and would like to extend condolences to his family and friends. We plead to the members of the public who might have information regarding this incident to contact the nearest police station or the metro police on 012-358-7095/6.”
