A 10-ten-year-old Pretoria North boy, who has been missing since the end of last month, has been found, police confirmed on Thursday.
Johannes Phillip Venter was found with his father in Lephalale (Ellisras), Limpopo.
Police spokesperson Captain Rebecca Phatlane said that the child was safe.
“The matter will be further dealt with by a social worker,” she said.
Venter was reported missing on 30 October by his grandmother.
He was apparently fetched at his school by his father.
Social media users posted on Facebook this week that the boy was “safe with family”, yet police continued their search.
“It is important that police see that the child is safe,” said Phatlane.
“We cannot close missing people cases based on rumours that the person was found.”
Phatlane said there is no waiting period for reporting a missing person.
“People can report their missing loved ones at their nearest police station.”
