Rietgat police have made their intentions for the festive season clear with the arrest of 38 suspects this week.
“The Rietgat SAPS heeded that call by ensuring that the residents in the policing precinct feel safe in preparing themselves towards the festive season,” said Maluleka.
The 38 suspects were arrested during the operation that started on November 2.
“These transgressors are expected to appear before the Soshanguve magistrate’s court soon to face various charges including housebreaking and theft, malicious damage to property, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, rape, possession of drugs, cable theft, shoplifting, drinking and driving, contravention of protection order, common assault and contravening the immigration act,” said Maluleka.
Rietgat SAPS station commander Colonel Dikeledi Hlatshwayo applauded the members for going beyond the call of duty in ensuring that lawlessness was nipped in the bud.
“It is a constitutional imperative of the SAPS to protect the South African citizens regardless of race, creed, belief, colour or gender.”
