Police are still searching for two robbers who shot dead a woman in Kameeldrift at the weekend.
The incident occurred at a plot in Buffelsdrif Bavaria in the early hours of Sunday.
The 61-year-old woman was identified as Marlet Entres, wife of the vice chairperson of Roodeplaat Fire Protection Association Manie Entres, according to DA MP Adriana Randall.
“Marlet and her husband Manie were dedicated to serving the community of Kameelsdrif and Buffelsdrif. The community has lost a hero who was involved in, and supported all the community’s initiatives,” she said.
“I express my deepest condolences to her family, relatives, friends and the community of Kameeldrif and Buffelsdrif.”
The robbers forced the security gate of the smallholding before entering the house, said police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo.
“They then tied up the couple, their daughter and grandchild,” he said.
“The suspects then shot the woman in the upper body.”
Masondo said Entres was declared dead at the scene.
“The two men allegedly stole a grey Isuzu car belonging to the family as well as two cell phones.”
Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation to please call their nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600-10111.
