Weekend operation nabs 457 in the North

The arrested will soon appear at the Ga-Rankuwa, Moretele, Pretoria North or Soshanguve magistrates' courts.

A total of 457 suspects were arrested in the north of Tshwane over the weekend.

The suspects were nabbed for various offences in several crime prevention operations, according to police spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka.

“The ten police stations within the Tshwane North Cluster apprehended and detained suspects in various operations during this past week,” said Maluleka.

The arrests were for various crimes, including attempted murder; fraud; malicious damage to property; shoplifting; armed robbery; murder, rape; possession of hijacked vehicle; common assault; illegal railway crossing; unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition; theft; possession of dagga; contravening the road traffic act; contravening a protection order; stock theft; attempted rape; drinking and driving; and intimidation.

The arrested will soon appear at the Ga-Rankuwa, Moretele, Pretoria North or Soshanguve magistrates’ courts.
