NEWS FLASH: Would-be carjacker arrested

A 35-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday after a RAM delivery vehicle was hijacked at a mall in the north.

Akasia police spokesperson, Constable Matsobane Mabusela said the police responded swiftly to the hijacking of the white Toyota Quantum resulting in the arrest of one of the suspects and recovery of the vehicle in Berg street in Amandasig.

“Suspects fired several shots at the RAM escort vehicle and no loss of life was reported,” said Mabusela.

He said two suspects managed to flee the scene and were still at large.

Further investigations are still being conducted.

The arrested suspect will appear in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court in due course.
