Wollies supported for Youth day

A Youth day event was held in aid of Wollies animal shelter on Saturday.

Residents from Pretoria and Moot areas attended the day, held on an open field in Mountain View.

The event was organised by Ward 54.

Councillor Elmarie Linde said the aim was to bring awareness among the youth that having a pet was to care for it unconditionally.

“Too many people get a pet without realising it is a lifetime responsibility,” said Linde.

She said having a pet was not only about feeding it, but loving and spending time with it.

“Wollies has beautiful animals that can add tremendous joy to a family.”

“Today we asked residents to donate food and blankets to Wollies, we even collected dog treats and bowls.”

Linde said the DA in the Moot area would be organising more of these events in the future to further the good work Wollies did when caring for the animals that were waiting to go to good homes.

Residents were also able to take some of the dogs in Wollies’ care for walks.
