A vehicle was swept away by floods on Thursday morning in Honingnestkrans, North of Pretoria.

Tshwane Emergency Services said its paramedics could not say if there were people in the vehicle as the water was up to the roof when they arrived.

“Upon arrival to the scene, paramedics saw a vehicle under water with only the sunroof showing,” Johan Pieterse of Tshwane Emergency said.

“It is very difficult and dangerous for us to get into the water. We are monitoring the scene and as soon as the water has subsided, we can pull the vehicle out.”

Following heavy floods in the past few days, Pieterse has urged motorists to be vigilant.

“Motorists must not cross flooded bridges,” he said.
