DJ to release new single

Club DJ, Ms Amza.

Versatile Mabopane artist and club DJ, Ms Amza will soon release a new single.

Born Amogelang Eleonous Sepeng, Ms Amza said this week her new single, Nkosazana, was ready and would be released in the next few weeks.

“I have worked on the single with another local female, Royalty,” said Ms Amza.

“We decided to name it Nkosazana to show our pride about being women. We wanted to express our gratitude that as women we are able to make music.”

Ms Amza, born in Mabopane on 25 December 1993, completed her primary education at Botsalo primary school and matriculated at Ngaka Ma-seko high school.

“I was introduced to mixing and DJing by my uncle on turntables,” she said.

As her passion grew, Ms Amza learned new tricks to expand her horizons and before long she was playing using CD pitch.

“I am a versatile DJ, playing different genres from commercial to deep house and classical music.”

She said she had learned the hard way that growing a brand required resilience.

“My biggest challenge came when I had to play among crowd favourites like Black Coffee, Silly Bean and Corry Da Groove but I didn’t hesitate and persevered.”

Ms Amza made her mark in the industry when she was invited to play at the 3Yards Bash at Giant stadium in Soshanguve.

There she rubbed shoulders with entertainers such as Buc-ie, Black Coffee, Shota and Pitch Black Afro.

But her crowning moment came when she appeared at Morula beer festival, sharing the stage with Julian Gomes, Fifi Cooper, Lulo Café, Naked DJ, Lerato Kgan-yago, Emtee, A’reece, Big Nuz, Babes Wodumo and Khuli Chana.

“I am not where I want to be yet but I am on my way there.”
